Fees and steps checked on
A good conduct certificate in Dubai is a police document that says whether you have a criminal record in the emirate. It is the same document as a police clearance certificate, or PCC. Dubai Police issues it. When you need it for a job, visa or immigration file in another country, it usually has to be attested by MOFA and then by the destination country's embassy.
Price: MOFA attestation of your good conduct certificate from AED 250 plus VAT, all official fees included, usually 2 to 3 working days. For embassy legalisation as well, send a photo on WhatsApp and get one total price, all official fees included, before any work starts. Free document pickup and delivery anywhere in Dubai. See attestation fees.
Good conduct certificate or police clearance certificate?
They are the same thing. People search for "good conduct certificate", "certificate of good conduct", "police clearance certificate", "PCC" and "police check". The receiving office abroad may use any of these names. In Dubai, they all point to one Dubai Police document.
The full Dubai Police process, with the online steps and the documents you need, is on our police clearance certificate in Dubai page. This page focuses on why people need the certificate and how to make it valid abroad.
Who issues it
- Dubai residents and former residents apply to Dubai Police, through the Dubai Police app or website.
- Residents of other emirates apply through the police of that emirate or the Ministry of Interior's online services.
The certificate covers the emirate or authority that issued it. If an immigration office asks for a "UAE good conduct certificate", ask which version it accepts before you apply.
When people need a good conduct certificate
- Jobs abroad. Employers often ask for one, especially for work with children, in health care, in finance or in security.
- Visas and residence permits in another country.
- Immigration and citizenship. Skilled migration and citizenship files often ask for a police certificate from every country you lived in for a set period.
- Professional licences and study in some countries.
- Former residents who have left the UAE and now need a certificate covering their time here.
If the certificate is for a UAE visa, the rules are different. Read police clearance for a UAE visa to see when a certificate from your home country is needed instead.
Attesting it for use abroad
The UAE is not in the Apostille Convention. So a Dubai good conduct certificate cannot be apostilled, even for a country that uses apostilles. Prices and both directions are on police clearance certificate attestation. The usual chain is:
- Issue. Dubai Police issues the certificate.
- MOFA attestation. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs attests it.
- Embassy legalisation. The destination country's embassy or consulate in the UAE adds its stamp, if that country asks for it.
- Translation, if asked. Some countries want a legal translation into their language.
Some countries accept the certificate with MOFA attestation only. Others ask for the embassy stamp too. Check with the receiving office, or ask us. More detail is on UAE documents for use abroad and embassy attestation in the UAE.
Check the details before you apply
- Addressee. Some offices want their own name or country on the certificate, not "to whom it may concern".
- Date. Receiving offices often want a recent certificate. Apply close to your submission date.
- Name. Use the spelling and order in your passport.
- Status. If you are still waiting, see Dubai police clearance status and validity.
How we help
We are a private document service in Dubai. We are not Dubai Police, MOFA, an embassy or any government office, and we do not issue certificates or attestations ourselves.
- Send a photo of the certificate on WhatsApp and tell us the destination country.
- We confirm the route: MOFA only, or MOFA and the embassy, and a translation if needed.
- You get one total price, all official fees included, before any work starts.
- We collect the document with free pickup anywhere in Dubai, or you send the electronic certificate.
- We arrange the attestation chain: MOFA, then the embassy where required.
- We deliver it back free anywhere in Dubai, or courier it to you abroad.
If you are not in Dubai yet, or have already left the UAE, tell us where you are. We will explain how the certificate can be attested without you travelling.
