The medical fitness test is a mandatory screening for a UAE residence visa: a blood test and a chest X-ray at a government approved medical centre. In Dubai it is run by Dubai Health Authority (DHA) centres, and Emirates Health Services (EHS) runs centres in Dubai and the northern emirates. You take it after the entry permit for a new visa, and again at each renewal.

What we do and what the medical centre does
We prepare the medical application, choose and book the centre and the speed of service that fits your visa date, tell you what to bring, and follow the result into your visa file. You attend the centre in person, because the blood sample and X-ray are taken there. The centre, not us, carries out the test and issues the result. We are a private service and not a DHA, EHS or government centre.

Medical fitness test in Dubai step by step
- Visa application first. For a new visa, the entry permit is issued; for a renewal, the renewal is started.
- Medical application. We prepare it with your passport details, photo and visa reference, and pick the centre.
- Appointment. EHS asks applicants to arrive 20 minutes before the slot.
- The test. Registration, blood sample and chest X-ray. Some categories also have a vaccination or pregnancy test.
- Result. Sent electronically and linked to your visa file. The DHA system in Dubai links medical results to the residency authority.
- Next step. With a fit result, the residence visa and Emirates ID can proceed.

What the test checks
The screening for residence visas includes a blood test and a chest X-ray. It looks for infectious diseases listed by UAE federal rules, including HIV, tuberculosis and hepatitis B, with extra tests for some occupations. The tests required depend on your visa category.
Where to take the test in Dubai
DHA runs medical fitness centres across Dubai, including a long-standing centre in Al Quoz. EHS lists centres in Dubai at Al Nahda, Salah El Deen, Ibn Battuta, Dragon Mart 2, Al Baraha and Al Refaa, and centres in Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. DHA has also offered an on-site service for companies, where staff test employees at the office. We pick the centre by location, opening hours and how fast you need the result.
Common problems and how to avoid them
- Arriving without the original passport or ID. The centre cannot register you.
- Booking the wrong category. Domestic workers and salon or spa staff have extra tests. The category must match the visa.
- Leaving it late. A new entrant has 60 days after entry to complete the residence. Book in the first week.
- Wrong contact details. The result goes to the mobile and email on the application.
