NOC attestation is the set of stamps that makes a no objection certificate accepted by an embassy, school or authority. An NOC issued by a UAE company usually needs chamber of commerce attestation, then MOFA, then the embassy of the destination country. An NOC signed abroad, such as a parent's consent letter, needs its home country chain, the UAE embassy and MOFA.
Price: NOCs depend on who issued them and where they are going. Send your details on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. See attestation fees.
Common NOCs and where they are used
| NOC | Issued by | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Employer NOC for travel or a visit visa | Your UAE employer | Visa applications at foreign embassies |
| Employer NOC for study or part-time work | Your UAE employer | Universities and licensing bodies |
| Father's NOC when the mother sponsors | The father | Dubai family residence visa for children |
| Parent's consent for a child's travel | One or both parents | Airlines, embassies, schools abroad |
| Sponsor's NOC | The visa sponsor | Some licences and transfers inside the UAE |
| Landlord or developer NOC | Landlord or developer | Property, utilities and fit-out |
Many NOCs are only used inside the UAE and need no attestation. Attestation matters when the NOC crosses a border.
Route for a UAE employer NOC used abroad
- The company issues the NOC on letterhead, signed by an authorised signatory and stamped.
- Chamber of commerce attestation: Dubai Chambers attests the signature, usually within two hours. See chamber of commerce attestation.
- MOFA attestation, as a personal or a commercial document. See MOFA attestation.
- Embassy legalisation at the destination country's embassy in the UAE, if that country requires it.
This is the same outbound route described on UAE documents for use abroad.
Route for an NOC signed abroad, for use in the UAE
- Notarise the NOC where it was signed. A private letter has no official seal, so a notary must first attest the signature.
- Home country authority and foreign ministry stamp the notary's signature (an apostille in Hague countries, authentication in others).
- UAE embassy in that country attests it. For the UK, USA and several other countries this is now digital and includes MOFA.
- UAE MOFA gives the final stamp where the embassy step was on paper.
If the parent cannot visit a notary abroad, a sworn statement made in the UAE may work instead. See affidavit attestation.
What a strong NOC includes
- Full name of the issuer, or the company name and trade licence number
- The employee's or child's name and passport number, exactly as in the passport
- The specific purpose: the country, the dates of travel, the course or the visa type
- The date of issue
- Signature of an authorised signatory and the company stamp
- Arabic or English text, or a legal translation
Official fees in the chain
Every official fee and the courier are included in the total price you get before any work starts.
Personal or commercial at MOFA?
MOFA charges a much higher fee for a commercial document than for a personal one, so the class matters. An employer NOC for your own visit visa or studies is often filed as a personal document, while an NOC between two companies is usually commercial. The document type you select on the MOFA system decides the fee, and choosing the wrong type can lead to a rejection and a wait for the refund. We select the type and tell you the cost before anything is paid.
Common problems and how to avoid them
- Vague purpose. "To whom it may concern, no objection" is often refused by embassies. Name the country and dates.
- Signed by the wrong person. The chamber attests only registered signatories.
- Expired NOC. Many embassies want an NOC issued within the last few weeks. Attest it close to your application date.
- Name spelling. A single letter different from the passport can get the visa file returned.
How we help
We check the wording against what the embassy or school asked for, prepare the chamber request with your employer's authorisation, and run MOFA and the embassy step. Our processing partner, a licensed typing and attestation centre in Bur Dubai, submits the applications; the chamber, MOFA and the embassies issue the stamps. Family sponsors can combine this with our family visa services.
