A police clearance certificate in Dubai, also called a good conduct certificate or PCC, is issued by Dubai Police and states if you have a criminal record on file. Residents apply online through the Dubai Police app or website, former residents can apply from outside the UAE, and the certificate is often issued the same day. For use in another country, it then needs MOFA attestation and, where required, the destination country's embassy.

Price: MOFA attestation of your police clearance certificate from AED 250 plus VAT, all official fees included, usually 2 to 3 working days. Help with the Dubai Police request itself is quoted after you share your details on WhatsApp, with the total price before any work starts. See attestation fees.

Who needs a good conduct certificate

  • Immigration abroad. Skilled migration, residence and citizenship applications in many countries ask for a police certificate from every country you lived in.
  • Jobs. Employers in the UAE and abroad ask for one, especially for work with children, in finance or in security.
  • Study and licences. Some universities and professional regulators ask for it.
  • Former residents who have left the UAE and now need a certificate covering their time in Dubai.

Applying from inside the UAE: step by step

  1. Open the Dubai Police app or website and choose the good conduct certificate service.
  2. Sign in with UAE PASS, or with your Emirates ID, email address and a one-time password.
  3. Enter the details: purpose of the certificate, the country or entity it is addressed to, and the language.
  4. Pay the fee online.
  5. Receive the certificate electronically, often the same day.
  6. Attest it if it is going abroad: MOFA attestation online, then the destination embassy.

Police clearance certificate Dubai from outside the UAE

Former residents can apply from abroad. If you still have your Emirates ID details, the online route is the same. Applicants without an Emirates ID are asked to give fingerprints at an authorised station, which adds time, so start early if a visa deadline is close.

Once issued, the certificate can be attested by MOFA from the UAE on your behalf. MOFA allows anyone to submit an attestation application for someone else, so you do not need to travel back to Dubai.

Attesting a Dubai PCC for use abroad

The UAE is not in the Apostille Convention, so a Dubai police certificate cannot be apostilled, even for an apostille country. Both directions, a UAE certificate going abroad and a home-country certificate coming to the UAE, are on PCC attestation. The usual chain is:

Step Who stamps it Usual time
Issue Dubai Police Often same day
MOFA attestation MOFA 1 to 3 business days by courier inside the UAE
Embassy legalisation Destination country's embassy in the UAE Varies
Translation, if asked MOJ-licensed translator Varies

Some destination countries accept the certificate with MOFA attestation only; others ask for their embassy's stamp or a translation. Ask the receiving office, or ask us. See UAE documents for use abroad and legal translation in Dubai. Why no apostille is possible is explained on apostille in Dubai.

Documents you need

  • Emirates ID, or passport and previous visa details for former residents
  • An email address and a UAE mobile number or UAE PASS for the online service
  • The name of the country or entity the certificate is for
  • For attestation: the issued certificate as received from Dubai Police

Common problems and how to avoid them

  • Wrong addressee. A certificate addressed "to whom it may concern" may be refused by an immigration office that wants its own name on it. Check before applying.
  • Old certificate. Receiving offices often want a recent certificate. Apply close to your submission date.
  • Name in a different order than in your passport. Use your passport spelling.
  • Forgetting attestation. An unattested PCC is a common reason an immigration file abroad is returned.

How we help

We guide you through the Dubai Police request or prepare it with you, then handle the MOFA attestation, the embassy legalisation and any translation, and courier the result to you in the UAE or abroad. Dubai Police issues the certificate; we prepare, follow up and attest it. The receiving office can check the MOFA stamp on MOFA attestation verification.
