Primary source verification

Dataflow verification

Dataflow verification, or PSV, is a check made directly with your university to confirm your degree is genuine. In the UAE it is the first stage of degree recognition with MoHESR.

Fees and steps checked on

Dataflow verification is a primary source verification (PSV): the DataFlow Group contacts the university or institution that issued your certificate and confirms directly that it is genuine. In the UAE, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) uses this check as stage one of recognising a foreign degree; stage two is the Certificate of Recognition on the MoHESR portal.

What Dataflow checks

A Dataflow PSV is not a stamp on your document. It is an investigation that ends in a report. Dataflow confirms:

  • That the institution exists and issued the certificate
  • That your name, the qualification and the dates match its records
  • That the transcript belongs to the same student and programme

Because the check goes to the source, a forged or altered document is refused, however many stamps it carries.

Where Dataflow fits in the recognition route

Stage Who does it What you get
1. Attestation of the degree Home authorities, UAE embassy, MOFA Attested certificate
2. Primary source verification Dataflow (QuadraBay was also named as a partner in 2025) Verification report
3. Recognition MoHESR Certificate of Recognition

The recognition certificate is what most people still call an equivalency certificate. The attestation stage is covered on degree certificate attestation.

Dataflow verification step by step

  1. Collect your documents. Degree certificate, full transcript, passport and any name change document, scanned in colour.
  2. Create the application. Choose the correct UAE requesting entity (MoHESR for degree recognition) and the documents to verify.
  3. Enter the institution details. Use the official name of your university and a working registrar or verification contact. Wrong contact details are the main cause of delay.
  4. Sign the authorisation. The letter of authorisation lets Dataflow ask your university about you. Without it, the university will not answer.
  5. Pay the fee. The amount is shown at checkout.
  6. Track the case. Dataflow may ask you for an extra document, often a missing transcript page or proof of a name change. Answer quickly; the case pauses while it waits.
  7. Receive the report and continue to the MoHESR recognition application.

Documents you need for Dataflow PSV

  • Degree certificate (clear colour scan of the original)
  • Academic transcripts for every year of the programme
  • Passport copy, photo page
  • Name change proof if your current passport name differs, such as a marriage certificate
  • Signed letter of authorisation
  • Any previous qualification that the degree depended on, if requested

Dataflow fees

Published figures for the MoHESR PSV fee conflict between sources, and the amount can differ by country and number of documents. Use the price shown at checkout.

How long Dataflow verification takes

The time depends on your university. Some answer verification requests in days; others take weeks, especially older or closed institutions, or universities in a holiday period. You can shorten the wait by:

  • Giving the registrar's direct verification address, not a general one
  • Telling your university in advance that a request from Dataflow is coming
  • Uploading every page of the transcript the first time

Dataflow for other UAE regulators

Dataflow also verifies documents for regulators outside higher education, for example for professional licences. Each regulator sets its own document list, so always open the application through the entity that asked you for the report. A report made for one entity is not automatically accepted by another.

Common problems and how to avoid them

  • "Unable to verify" because the university did not reply. Follow up with the registrar yourself and send Dataflow the reply.
  • Name mismatch between passport and degree. Upload the name change document at the start.
  • Unaccredited or unrecognised institution. Check accreditation before paying for anything; for US degrees the UAE embassy accepts only regionally accredited institutions.
  • Wrong requesting entity. A report ordered for the wrong body may need a new application.

If something is refused, our guide to why attestation gets rejected covers the fixes.

Why people need it

Most Dataflow applications start because of a visa or a job. The skilled professional route of the golden visa has required degree recognition, and many employers ask for a recognised degree for skilled roles. Read degree attestation for a UAE work visa for the employment side.

If you are not sure which check your file needs, read DataFlow or attestation: which do I need. Doctors, nurses and other health staff can follow attestation for medical professionals.

How we help

We review your documents before you pay Dataflow, prepare the application, chase your university and handle the attestation and recognition steps around it. Dataflow and MoHESR make the decisions; our part is making sure your file is complete and moves.

Good to know

Questions people ask

What is Dataflow verification?

It is primary source verification (PSV) by the DataFlow Group. Dataflow contacts the institution that issued your certificate and confirms that the document, your name and your dates of study are genuine. The result is a verification report.

Why do I need Dataflow PSV in the UAE?

MoHESR uses primary source verification as stage one of recognising a foreign degree. After the Dataflow report is ready, you apply for the Certificate of Recognition on the MoHESR portal.

How much does Dataflow verification cost?

The fee is shown when you pay and can vary with the country and the number of documents. Published figures conflict, so rely on the amount shown at checkout rather than older articles.

How long does Dataflow verification take?

It depends mostly on how fast your university replies to Dataflow. A complete application with clear scans and the right contact details for the university moves faster.

Is Dataflow verification the same as attestation?

No. Attestation is a chain of stamps by authorities, ending with MOFA. Dataflow verification is a direct check with the university. A foreign degree used for recognition in the UAE usually needs both.

Can someone else apply for Dataflow on my behalf?

The application is in your name and needs your consent and documents. A service can prepare the upload, check it for errors and follow up for you.
