Fees and steps checked on

A Dubai family visa is a residence visa that lets a UAE resident sponsor a spouse, children and, under stricter rules, parents. GDRFA, the Dubai immigration authority, issues the visa. The route is entry permit, medical test, residence visa, then Emirates ID.

Price: from AED 2,565 per family member outside the UAE, or AED 3,885 inside the UAE, VAT included. Certificate attestation is quoted separately, see attestation fees.

What we do and what the government does

We are a private document service. We attest your certificates, check your eligibility, type and submit the applications, book the medical and follow the file until the Emirates ID is ready. GDRFA issues the entry permit and the residence visa, ICP issues the Emirates ID, and an approved medical centre carries out the test. Your family member attends the medical centre and the biometrics appointment in person; no service can do that for them.

  • Daughters and younger children: with an attested birth certificate for each child.
  • Parents: possible under stricter conditions, with the visa issued for one year at a time.

  • Mother as sponsor: allowed when she meets the salary rule, with a no objection letter from the father. See NOC attestation.

Documents required for a family visa in Dubai

The GDRFA list:

  1. Personal photo of each family member
  2. Passport copies, valid for at least six months
  3. Your employment contract
  4. Salary certificate, for government, semi-government and free zone employees
  5. Partnership contract, if you are a company partner
  6. Attested birth certificate for each child
  7. Certified marriage contract for your spouse

Certificates issued abroad must go through the home country chain, the UAE embassy and MOFA before GDRFA accepts them. This is usually the longest part. See marriage certificate attestation, birth certificate attestation and documents to attest for a family visa.

Dubai family visa procedure step by step

  1. Attest the marriage and birth certificates. Start here, because it can take weeks for documents from abroad.
  2. Check eligibility: salary, tenancy contract and your own residence validity.
  3. Apply for the entry permit through GDRFA. The entry permit allows 60 days from entry to complete residency.
  4. Medical fitness test for family members aged 18 and over. See medical fitness test in Dubai.
  5. Health insurance for each family member.
  6. Residence visa issued by GDRFA, usually within about 48 hours of a complete application.
  7. Emirates ID application and biometrics with ICP. See Emirates ID services.

If your family is already in the UAE on a visit visa, a status change inside the country is possible. It uses the inside UAE package above.

Family visa renewal in Dubai

Renewal repeats three steps: the medical test for those over 18, the residence renewal with GDRFA and the Emirates ID renewal. Certificates attested for the first visa can usually be reused, so renewal is faster. Late renewal of the Emirates ID costs AED 20 a day from one month after expiry, up to AED 985, so set a reminder well before the date.

Common problems and how to avoid them

  • Unattested certificates. The most common reason a file stops. Attest early.
  • Name differences between the marriage certificate and the passports. Fix them before attestation, or an affidavit may be needed.
  • Missing the 60-day window after entry. Book the medical as soon as your family lands.
  • Sponsor's own visa close to expiry. Your family's visas depend on yours, so renew your own residence first.

How we help

We handle the full file: certificate attestation, eligibility check, typing and submission, the medical booking, insurance and the Emirates ID application, with updates on WhatsApp at each stage. Our processing partner is a licensed typing and attestation centre in Bur Dubai. We are not GDRFA, ICP or an Amer centre; we prepare and submit your applications through the official channels, and the authorities make every decision.
