Fees and steps checked on
A UK academic transcript is attested for the UAE by having a UK solicitor or notary certify it, sending it to the FCDO for an apostille, and then to the UAE Embassy in London, which attests it together with MOFA. It is its own document, separate from the degree certificate, with its own fees. Graduates need it for degree recognition, for a medical, nursing, engineering or teaching licence where the regulator checks subjects and hours, and for a master's place at a UAE university.
Price: from AED 985 plus VAT per transcript on standard (22 to 24 working days), AED 1,200 on express (18 working days) or AED 1,600 on premium (12 to 14 working days). Solicitor, FCDO, embassy and MOFA charges all sit inside that figure. See attestation fees.
You do not post the transcript. Email or WhatsApp us the PDF the registry gave you, pay up front, and a solicitor-certified copy carries the stamps.
Degree certificate or transcript: which page you need
If you need the degree certificate itself, with its award and classification, go to UK degree attestation for the cost and steps. This page covers transcripts and the HEAR only. Many UAE offices ask for both documents, and each is attested separately.
Transcript cost and time
A transcript uses the same chain and the same prices as other UK personal documents, per transcript: standard from AED 985 plus VAT (22 to 24 working days), express AED 1,200 (18 working days) and premium AED 1,600 (12 to 14 working days). The FCDO publishes its own legalisation fees on GOV.UK, from £35 for an e-Apostille to £45 for standard postal service (2025 figures). They are included in our price. After attestation, check the result at verify.mofa.gov.ae with the reference number and issue date, as explained on MOFA attestation verification.
What to send us for a transcript
- The official transcript or HEAR as a clear PDF, with every page, including any page of grading notes.
- The photo page of your passport, so the name can be matched.
- The name of the UAE office or regulator asking for it, because some want the final transcript only.
The original does not leave your hands. A solicitor certifies a copy, and the attestation runs on that copy.
Transcript, HEAR or degree certificate
| Document | What it shows | Who issues it |
|---|---|---|
| Degree certificate | The award and classification | The university |
| Transcript | Modules, marks and credits, year by year | The university registry |
| HEAR | Transcript plus other verified achievements | Many universities, as their official transcript for recent graduates |
If your university issues a HEAR, that is usually what it will send as the official transcript. Check that it shows the award, the date and your full name as in your passport.
Paper or electronic
More universities now send transcripts electronically. A solicitor can only certify what they can verify, so ask the registry for a signed paper copy, or confirm with the solicitor that they can certify a printout of the electronic version against the university's records. The FCDO legalises the solicitor's signature, not the marks.
Step by step
- Order the official transcript from your university's registry.
- Solicitor or notary certification. GOV.UK lists qualification documents among those that must be certified first.
- FCDO apostille.
- UAE Embassy London and MOFA, filed on the MOFA portal. The certified copy is collected in the UK, and the attestation is digital.
- Degree recognition at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, if required. See equivalency certificate in the UAE.
Other UK services you may hear about
- Hedd verifies UK degrees for employers and agencies. It is not attestation, and graduates cannot use it on their own awards.
- UK ENIC compares international qualifications with UK ones. Its statements are for people who need to explain qualifications, not a substitute for UAE stamps.
Documents to send
- A clear PDF of the transcript
- Your degree certificate, if it is being attested too. See UK degree attestation.
- Your passport copy, and the UAE office the transcript is for
What goes wrong
- A transcript with a different name from the degree or passport. Fix it with the registry first, or attest a marriage certificate or deed poll as the link. See UK deed poll attestation.
- Interim transcripts. A transcript printed before the award shows no final result. Order the final one.
- One transcript per year. If the university issues separate yearly statements, ask for a single final transcript to keep fees down.
- No solicitor step. The FCDO returns uncertified transcripts.
Transcripts from other countries are on transcript attestation. School results are on UK GCSE and A level attestation.
