Fees and steps checked on
A US employment verification letter is attested for the UAE when someone in HR signs it before a notary, the Secretary of State of the notary's state authenticates the notary, the US Department of State authenticates the state, and the UAE Embassy in Washington attests it together with MOFA. UAE health and engineering regulators ask for it to count years of practice, and some employers and golden visa files ask for proof of past roles and pay.
Price: AED 1,025 per letter plus VAT, with authentication, embassy, MOFA and courier fees included, in about 1 month and 3 weeks. A clean scan of the notarised letter is enough. If a letter has to go as a commercial document instead, we tell you before you pay. See attestation fees.
Get the letter right before the notary
A letter that is vague gets attested and then refused by the regulator, which means paying for the chain twice. Ask HR to include:
- Your full name exactly as in your passport
- Job title and department, with dates for each role if you were promoted
- Start date and end date, or "currently employed"
- Full time or part time, and hours per week if the regulator counts them
- Main duties, if a licensing body will read it
- The signer's name, title and contact details, on company letterhead
Salary is only needed if the UAE office asks for it.
Experience letters for licensing
Regulators that license doctors, nurses, engineers and teachers in the UAE count your years of experience from these letters. Some also verify them with the employer through Dataflow, separately from attestation. See Dataflow verification. Your licence itself is covered on USA professional licence attestation.
Step by step
- HR prepares the letter on letterhead and signs it in front of a notary, or signs a statement about it before the notary.
- Secretary of State of the notary's state authenticates the notary's commission.
- US Department of State adds the federal certificate.
- UAE Embassy and MOFA, filed through VFS Global in Washington and issued digitally.
The state that matters is where the notary was commissioned, not where the company is registered. A remote HR team in another state is fine, as long as the notary and the Secretary of State match.
Several jobs, several letters
Every employer writes its own letter, and each letter is one document in the chain. If a regulator needs five years of experience, attest only the letters that add up to those five years. Tell us what the UAE office asked for and we plan the set.
Documents to send
- A scan of each signed and notarised letter
- Your passport copy
- The UAE regulator, employer or visa file it is for
What goes wrong
- Unsigned PDFs. A letter generated by a verification platform rarely has a signature that a notary can work with.
- Dates that do not match your CV. Regulators compare them. Fix the letter, not the CV.
- Notary and HR in different places. The signer must appear before the notary, in person or by remote notarisation where the state allows it.
- Company closed. Tell us early. The answer depends on what the receiving office accepts.
Letters from other countries follow the routes on experience certificate attestation. A UAE salary letter for use abroad is on salary certificate attestation.
