Fees and steps checked on
If your employer in Dubai has asked for an attested Zambian degree, or the immigration desk wants your marriage certificate stamped, the work happens in two countries. In Zambia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation authenticates the paper. In the Emirati chain, the UAE embassy accredited to Zambia attests that authentication and MOFA gives the last seal. Zambia is not part of the Hague apostille system, and the UAE is not either, so there is no single-stamp option.
We are a private document service, not MOFA, an embassy or a government office. We run the Lusaka and UAE stages for you, with free document pickup and delivery anywhere in Dubai.
Price: There is no fixed price for Zambia. Send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. The fees explainer lists what is bundled in.
Three checks before anything goes to Lusaka
1. Is it correct? A misspelt surname or a wrong date of birth has to be corrected by the issuing office. Embassies in Lusaka refuse to work around errors, and the ministry is no different.
2. Is it recent enough? Some missions want civil certificates issued within the last six months. An old birth record may be fine, or a new one may save a refusal. We judge this from your copy.
3. Is it an original, unlaminated? Copies and laminated cards cause trouble at every stage. A certificate sealed in plastic cannot carry the UAE stamp.
Charter House: the Zambian stage
The ministry's Consular and Protocol Division sits at Charter House on Independence Avenue. It pre-certifies Zambian public documents for foreign use, which is the stamp every embassy in Lusaka asks for. Before that, the paper needs a recognised signature on it:
- University of Zambia, Copperbelt University and other institutions confirm their own degrees.
- The Examinations Council of Zambia stands behind school certificates.
- The registry that issued a birth, marriage or death certificate confirms it.
- A notary or commissioner for oaths handles affidavits and powers of attorney.
- PACRA records cover company papers, which MOFA prices as commercial.
The Emirati stage
Once Lusaka has authenticated it, the paper goes to the UAE embassy accredited to Zambia. The request is filed on the MOFA portal, where the UAE fees are paid. The last seal is MOFA's, either added in the Emirates or folded into a digital attestation.
Managing it from the Gulf
You stay in your job. The original moves by courier or with a relative, and an authorised person can submit on your behalf at the UAE end. If the degree is for a regulated profession, ask HR whether an equivalency certificate is also required, as that is a separate file.
Studied south of the Zambezi? A Harare degree follows the Zimbabwe route, and one from Johannesburg or Cape Town follows the South Africa route.
English papers, no translation
Zambian certificates are printed in English, which MOFA reads without help. That saves a step many other African files need. The exception is a later request from a UAE court or free zone authority for an Arabic version, which a Dubai legal translator can add once the attestation is done. Timing depends mostly on the Lusaka queue and the courier legs, and your estimate arrives with the quote.
Where Zambian files usually stall
- NRC or name mismatch between the certificate and the passport used for the visa.
- Old civil certificates that a mission considers too dated.
- Skipped issuer step, so the ministry has no signature to verify.
