Fees and steps checked on
Argentina certificate attestation makes an Argentine título, birth or marriage acta, or company document legally usable in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. What makes Argentina simpler than many countries: the UAE Embassy in Buenos Aires now works on MOFA's digital route: once Cancillería has legalised your document, a single application gives you both the embassy stamp and MOFA attestation.
Price: Send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. Argentina is quoted case by case because provincial documents carry extra steps. See attestation fees.
What the chain looks like for Argentina
- Issuing office or notary (escribano). Civil registry actas, university títulos and notarial deeds start where they were issued. Documents from a province may need a provincial or Ministry of the Interior legalisation before the national step.
- Cancillería. Argentina's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship legalises the document. For countries outside the Apostille Convention, Argentina issues a legalisation rather than an apostille. It can be requested online through TAD (Trámites a Distancia) or, by delegation, at a provincial Colegio de Escribanos.
- UAE Embassy in Buenos Aires, digital route. The application is made on the UAE MOFA website with UAE PASS. A MOFA-approved provider collects the original, and the document is returned by email attested by both the embassy and MOFA.
- Use in the UAE. No separate MOFA counter or second application is needed on this route.
The original physical document is required for step 3, even though the result is digital.
Argentine documents we handle
| Document | Starts with | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Título universitario, analítico (transcript) | The issuing university | Needed for skilled work permits and degree certificate attestation |
| Partida de nacimiento | Registro Civil of the province | Used for a child's residence visa |
| Acta de matrimonio | Registro Civil | Used for spouse sponsorship |
| Poder (power of attorney) | Escribano, then Colegio de Escribanos | A commercial power counts as a commercial document |
| Estatuto, actas de directorio | Escribano and company registry | Commercial fee applies at the UAE stage |
Translation: the Argentine order matters
Argentina has its own rule that a public translation into a foreign language is made after the apostille or legalisation, not before. So the usual order is: Argentine legalisation first, then a sworn translation into English, then the UAE step. If the receiving authority in the UAE needs Arabic, a translator licensed by the UAE Ministry of Justice can do it here. See legal translation in Dubai.
UAE fees on the Argentine route
On the digital route, the UAE mission and MOFA steps are part of the same application. Every official fee and the courier are included in the total price you get before any work starts.
From inside the UAE
You do not need to fly to Buenos Aires. The original travels by courier or with a relative, Cancillería and the embassy steps are done in Argentina, and the document is emailed attested with the original returned to you in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah. Anyone may apply on your behalf.
Problems we see with Argentine papers
- Apostille instead of legalisation. A Hague apostille is meant for member countries. For the UAE, ask for the legalisation and add the embassy step.
- Provincial documents sent straight to Cancillería. They can be refused if the provincial step is missing.
- Name order. Argentine papers can show two surnames. Keep a passport copy in the file so the match with your UAE visa is clear.
- Laminated originals. They cannot be attested.
The same embassy handles documents from Uruguay and Paraguay. For Spanish or Brazilian papers, see Spain certificate attestation and Brazil certificate attestation, or browse attestation by country.
