Fees and steps checked on
Chile certificate attestation is what turns a Chilean degree, school certificate, Registro Civil certificate or notarial deed into a document the UAE will accept. The catch is that Chile runs two tracks: a free apostille for Hague countries and a legalisation for everyone else. The UAE is outside the Hague Convention, so your document takes the legalisation track at Minrel, then the UAE Embassy in Chile, which adds MOFA attestation in the same digital application.
Price: Send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. See attestation fees for how our all-in pricing works.
Two Chilean tracks, one of them right for the UAE
| Apostille | Legalisation | |
|---|---|---|
| For | Hague member countries | Countries outside the Convention, including the UAE |
| Who issues it | Minrel, Ministry of Justice or Mineduc, by document type | Minrel, Apostille and Legalisations section |
| Where | Partly online; Registro Civil apostilles 28 certificates online | Agustinas 1320, Santiago, or a regional presidential delegation; not online |
| Next step for the UAE | Not accepted as the end of the chain | UAE Embassy in Chile |
People in Dubai often order the online apostille because it is quick and free, and then find it is not what the UAE embassy asks for. Ask for legalisation from the start.
Step by step for a Chilean document
- Issuing authority. Registro Civil for birth, marriage and death certificates; the university for degrees; Mineduc for school certificates; a notary for powers of attorney and company papers.
- Education ministry, if academic. School certificates go through Mineduc before Minrel when the destination is a non-Hague country.
- Minrel legalisation in Santiago or a regional delegation.
- UAE Embassy in Chile, digital. Applied for on the UAE MOFA website with UAE PASS, selecting the Republic of Chile. A MOFA-approved provider collects the original, and you receive the document by email attested by both the embassy and MOFA.
- Translation for UAE use. Spanish documents need English or Arabic. See legal translation in Dubai.
Which documents, for what
- Título profesional or licenciatura for a work permit or recognition: see degree certificate attestation.
- Licencia de enseñanza media and school reports for a child joining a UAE school: see attestation for school admission.
- Certificado de matrimonio for a spouse visa: see marriage certificate attestation.
- Certificado de nacimiento for a child's residence visa.
- Escrituras and poderes from a Chilean notario for company or property matters in the UAE, charged as commercial at the UAE stage when the content is commercial.
Fees
On the digital route the UAE mission and MOFA fees are paid together on the MOFA portal. Every official fee and the courier are included in the total price you get before any work starts.
Living in the UAE with Chilean papers
You do not need to travel. The original goes to Chile, the Minrel and embassy steps are completed there, and the attested file arrives by email with the original couriered back to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or wherever you live. MOFA allows anyone to apply for you.
Documents from Argentina follow a different chain, set out on Argentina certificate attestation, so if you hold papers from both countries the two routes can be planned side by side.
Common Chilean mistakes
- Online apostille ordered instead of legalisation. The most frequent problem.
- School certificate skipping Mineduc. Minrel expects the education ministry step first for these.
- Chilean consulate in the UAE asked to apostille. Chilean consulates do not apostille; it is done in Chile.
- Laminated or photocopied civil certificates. Originals are required.
Other countries are listed on attestation by country.
