Fees and steps checked on
Canadian transcript attestation makes your university or college marks valid in the UAE for degree recognition, professional licences and further study. The registrar's transcript is certified by a Canadian notary, apostilled by the province or Global Affairs Canada, attested by the UAE Embassy in Ottawa, and finished by MOFA.
Price: from AED 1,900 plus VAT per transcript, 4 to 6 weeks, all official fees and courier included. See attestation fees.
The transcript the UAE expects
The official transcript comes from the registrar's office of your university or college. It lists every course, grade and credit, and the date the credential was conferred. A student portal printout or an unofficial grade report will not pass the notary.
The transcript usually travels with the degree certificate, which has its own page at Canada degree attestation. For transcripts from other countries, see transcript attestation.
Who asks for a Canadian transcript
| Purpose in the UAE | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| MoHESR recognition | Shows the courses and hours behind your degree. See equivalency certificate UAE |
| DataFlow file | Scans are verified with the registrar; the attested paper is a separate need |
| Teaching licence | Schools and regulators often want the degree and transcript together |
| Health licence | DHA, DOH and MOHAP verify records through DataFlow |
| Master's or PhD admission | UAE universities check your marks and credits |
Our degree recognition service starts from AED 985 and is separate from attestation. The difference between the two checks is explained on DataFlow verification.
How the transcript moves through four offices
- Notarised copy. A Canadian notary public certifies a true copy of the registrar's transcript. Global Affairs Canada accepts a certified notarised copy without the original enclosed.
- Apostille. The province where the copy was notarised issues it if that is Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec or Saskatchewan. Copies notarised elsewhere go to Global Affairs Canada, which currently works on requests received about 25 business days earlier, plus 5 to 10 business days of mailing.
- UAE Embassy in Ottawa. The apostilled copy is attested there after a booking on the MOFA portal and VFS Global. Payment is online and the embassy needs at least 3 to 5 business days.
- MOFA. The UAE foreign ministry adds the final stamp, applied for online. See MOFA attestation.
An apostille is not enough on its own here. Canada joined the convention on 11 January 2024, but the UAE is not a member.
What you send
- The official transcript, or a sealed copy from the registrar.
- A copy of your passport.
- The degree certificate, if it is being attested at the same time.
- Any letter from MoHESR, a school or a regulator that lists what they want.
Pickup and return are free anywhere in Dubai.
Where transcript files go wrong
- Electronic only. Many registrars now send e-transcripts. The apostille needs paper with an original signature, so plan this before you order.
- Unofficial copy. A screenshot from the student portal is not a registrar document.
- Several schools. A college diploma, a transfer and a university degree mean several transcripts. Send them together so they finish on the same day.
- Name differences. The name on the transcript should match your passport. Bring the record of any change.
- French transcripts. Quebec universities and cégeps may issue them in French. MOFA works in Arabic or English, so plan for legal translation in Dubai.
