Comorian documents for the UAE

Comoros certificate attestation for the UAE

Papers from the Comoros are legalised by the Comoran Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attested by the UAE Embassy in Moroni and stamped by MOFA. The language of the paper decides if a translation is needed.

Comoros certificate attestation is how a birth certificate, marriage certificate, diploma or business paper from Grande Comore, Anjouan or Mohéli becomes valid in the UAE. The Comoros does not issue apostilles, so the document is legalised by the Comoran Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attested by the UAE Embassy in Moroni and completed with MOFA attestation in the UAE.

What makes Comorian papers different

The Comoros is a member of the Arab League, and documents can be written in French, Arabic or Shikomoro. For the UAE that is mostly good news. MOFA accepts papers in Arabic or English, so a certificate issued in Arabic often needs no translation for the MOFA stamp. A French or Shikomoro paper does need one. If a UAE court or employer asks for Arabic anyway, we arrange it through legal translation in Dubai at the right point in the chain.

The route from Moroni to the UAE

  1. Original from the issuing office. Civil status centre, school, university or court. Bring the full act, not a short note.
  2. Comoran Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry legalises the signature of the official who issued the paper.
  3. UAE Embassy in Moroni. The embassy attests the ministry's stamp. Fees are paid through the MOFA system.
  4. MOFA in the UAE. MOFA attests the paper, and it is ready for the employer, school or immigration.

Having an embassy in Moroni itself is an advantage. Some small states are covered from another country, which adds postage and time. For the Comoros, the UAE mission step happens in the same city as the foreign ministry.

From inside the UAE

You stay in Dubai, Sharjah or Abu Dhabi. The original goes to Moroni with a courier or a family member, passes the two Comoran and UAE stamps, and comes back. We then file the MOFA step for you, because MOFA allows anyone to apply on someone else's behalf. You can check the finished stamp on the MOFA verification service with its reference number.

If you also studied, married or had a child in Seychelles, the steps for those papers are on Seychelles certificate attestation.

Problems that slow Comorian files

  • Name order. Comorian names may be written differently on the birth act, the passport and the UAE visa. Send your passport copy so the translator follows the passport spelling.
  • Handwritten registers. Older acts are sometimes handwritten. A fresh, typed copy from the civil status office is easier for every office to read.
  • Laminated originals. MOFA does not accept them.

Other countries are listed on attestation by country.

Good to know

Questions people ask

Is there a UAE embassy in the Comoros?

Yes. The UAE Embassy in Moroni has a page on the MOFA website and lists attestation among its services for individuals.

How much does Comoros certificate attestation cost?

Send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts.

My Comorian certificate is in French. Is that a problem?

MOFA accepts documents in Arabic or English, or with a legally certified translation. A French paper therefore needs a translation, usually into Arabic for UAE offices.

Can I use an apostille from the Comoros?

No. The Comoros is not on the Hague Apostille table, and the UAE is not a member either. The document goes through full legalisation.

Do I have to travel to Moroni?

No. The original can be sent by courier or handed in by a relative, and MOFA allows anyone to apply on your behalf in the UAE.

How long does it take?

The Comoran ministry and the embassy do not publish fixed times, so the timeline is confirmed when you send a copy. MOFA's courier step inside the UAE usually takes 1 to 3 business days.
