Fees and steps checked on
Denmark certificate attestation is how a Danish diploma, civil certificate, criminal record or company paper becomes valid for a UAE visa, job or licence. The order is the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the UAE Embassy in Copenhagen, then MOFA attestation. The embassy step is done in person, which is what shapes the whole plan for Danish files.
Price: Send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. See attestation fees for what the total covers.
The Copenhagen embassy reopened
In a notice dated 30 April 2025, the Danish Consulate General in Dubai announced that the UAE had reopened its embassy in Copenhagen for consular services, and that the embassy now handles attestation of documents legalised by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its consular section is open Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 14:30.
The embassy runs a Smart Consulate system. It does not take applications, documents or fees by post, so someone must attend in person, and fees are paid by card. That is the main practical difference from countries where a courier collects the original for a digital attestation.
Danish route, step by step
- Notarisation where the document is a copy, a declaration or a power of attorney.
- Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its legalisation office in Copenhagen takes walk-ins on weekday mornings, and documents are ordered and paid through its webshop.
- UAE Embassy in Copenhagen. In person, with the original already carrying the Danish ministry stamp.
- MOFA in the UAE. The last step, applied for online.
Who does what
| Office | Role for Danish documents | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs | Legalises the Danish signature or seal | Copenhagen |
| UAE Embassy | Attests the Danish ministry stamp | Copenhagen, in person |
| UAE MOFA | Final attestation for UAE use | Online, UAE |
| Danish Consulate General | Handles UAE documents for Denmark, not Danish documents for the UAE | Dubai |
The last row matters because people in Dubai often go to the Danish consulate first. It cannot replace the Copenhagen steps. If you have a UAE document going to Denmark instead, see UAE documents for use abroad.
Digital Danish documents
Denmark issues many documents digitally. Those with a certified digital signature, such as a criminal record certificate from the National Police, can be uploaded to the Danish ministry's webshop for an electronic apostille. The UAE route is built around a physical original at the embassy, so we check the form the UAE Embassy in Copenhagen will accept before ordering anything. For UAE police certificates, see police clearance certificate.
Documents we handle from Denmark
- University diplomas and transcripts, for a work permit or degree certificate attestation
- Birth and marriage certificates for family residence visas
- Criminal record certificates
- Powers of attorney signed before a Danish notary
- Company documents from the Danish Business Authority, attested with MOFA's commercial fee
Language and names
Danish documents need a certified translation into Arabic or English unless they are already in English. Names with æ, ø and å are often written as "ae", "oe" and "aa" in UAE systems. Send your passport copy so every translation uses the same spelling.
A spouse or child with certificates from Sweden needs that country's own chain: see Sweden certificate attestation.
From the UAE
You do not need to travel to Copenhagen yourself. MOFA allows anyone to apply on your behalf, so a relative in Denmark or someone we arrange can attend the embassy, and the attested original then comes back to you in the UAE.
