Fees and steps checked on
Georgia certificate attestation for the UAE splits early. A Georgian diploma goes through the Ministry of Education, while a birth certificate, marriage certificate or power of attorney goes through the Ministry of Justice. Both then need the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After that, the UAE Embassy in Tbilisi completes a digital attestation that includes MOFA attestation, so the document is ready for Dubai, Abu Dhabi or any other emirate without another stamp at home.
Price: send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. See attestation fees.
A note on names: this page is about the country of Georgia. Documents from the US state of Georgia follow the USA certificate attestation route.
Educational versus personal documents
| Educational (diploma, transcript) | Personal (birth, marriage, POA) | |
|---|---|---|
| Translation | Sworn translation into English or Arabic | Sworn translation into English or Arabic |
| Notarisation | Yes | Yes |
| Georgian ministry | Ministry of Education | Ministry of Justice |
| Foreign ministry | Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia | Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia |
| UAE step | UAE Embassy Tbilisi, digital with MOFA | UAE Embassy Tbilisi, digital with MOFA |
This is the chain VFS Global, MOFA's attestation service provider, lists for Georgia. Commercial documents follow the same idea.
What happens at the Tbilisi embassy
The UAE Embassy in Tbilisi only accepts Georgian documents already attested by Georgia's foreign ministry. From there:
- The application is made on the MOFA website with UAE PASS, selecting Georgia as the issuing country.
- The form is completed and the fee paid online.
- The original physical document is presented, because the digital attestation still needs it.
- An email arrives with the document digitally attested by the embassy and MOFA.
- The attestation can be checked through MOFA attestation verification using its reference number.
MOFA says most of these requests finish within 2 to 3 business days.
Fees in one place
Every official fee and the courier are included in the total price you get before any work starts.
Georgian problems we plan around
- Georgian script. Mkhedruli text has to be translated. A sworn translation done in Georgia is notarised along with it. Extra Arabic copies for a UAE court can come from legal translation in Dubai.
- Wrong ministry. A diploma sent to the Ministry of Justice instead of Education, or the reverse, can come back unsigned. We check before it is filed.
- Name spelling. Georgian surnames such as those ending in -shvili or -dze can be transliterated in several ways. Match your passport.
- Apostille. Georgia is in the Hague Convention, and apostilles are easy to get there. The UAE does not accept one on its own.
A spouse or child with certificates from Armenia needs that country's own chain: see Armenia certificate attestation.
Doing it from the UAE
You can stay where you are. The original goes to Tbilisi by courier or with a relative, and you receive the digital attestation by email. For a work permit see degree certificate attestation; for a newborn's residence visa see birth certificate attestation.
