Fees and steps checked on
An Ivorian diploma, extrait d'acte de naissance or acte de mariage becomes usable in Dubai or Abu Dhabi after three official hands touch it. The legalisation service of the Ivorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs comes first. The UAE Embassy in Abidjan comes second. MOFA attestation in the Emirates comes last. Côte d'Ivoire is not part of the Hague apostille convention, and the UAE is not either, so legalisation is the only route.
We are a private document service, not MOFA, an embassy or a government office. We manage the Ivorian file and the Emirati stage, and you get free document pickup and delivery anywhere in Dubai.
Price: There is no fixed price for Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire). Send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. Our pricing explainer shows what is inside that number.
French is the starting point
Every Ivorian public document is in French. MOFA works in Arabic and English, so nearly every Ivorian file includes a certified translation. The key is consistency. Compound first names, hyphenated surnames and accents must read exactly as in your passport, on the original and in the translation. We match them before the translator starts, through our legal translation team.
Two papers that visit the Justice ministry first
Most documents go straight from their issuer to the foreign ministry. Two do not. According to servicepublic.gouv.ci, the government's public service portal:
- Casier judiciaire (criminal record extract)
- Certificat de nationalité
pass the Ministry of Justice office for civil and criminal affairs first, which confirms they were issued properly. Only then does the foreign ministry legalise them. People who skip this step are sent back.
A strict legalisation service
In 2021 the foreign ministry's legalisation service brought in tougher measures to stop forged papers and paid intermediaries. Users complained of slower returns at the time. For you it means one thing: the file has to be complete and genuine on the first visit. Bring the original with all its annexes, not a photocopy.
Where each paper starts
- University degree or relevé de notes: the university, and where required the higher education ministry.
- Baccalauréat or BEPC: the exam authority.
- Extrait de naissance, acte de mariage: the état civil centre, ideally on a recent extract.
- Company papers: registry or notary. MOFA bills these as commercial.
The UAE Embassy in Abidjan
Unlike several West African countries, Côte d'Ivoire has a resident UAE Embassy. It attests documents issued in the country after the foreign ministry stamp. The request goes through the MOFA portal, where the UAE fees are paid, and the final MOFA seal follows in the Emirates or arrives inside a digital attestation.
How long it takes
The government portal gives about one week for the casier judiciaire route through Justice and Foreign Affairs. Other papers vary with the issuer and the translator. The UAE Embassy step and MOFA come after, and the quote you receive carries a full estimate built from your actual document, not a general promise.
Running it from the UAE
Stay in Dubai. Family or a courier carries the original in Abidjan, and someone you authorise can file at the UAE end. A spouse visa needs the marriage record attested, a child's visa the birth record, a job usually the degree.
The Abidjan embassy only handles Ivorian papers. A degree from Accra follows the Ghana route, one from Dakar the Senegal route.
Typical Ivorian refusals
- Missing annexes on the original.
- A casier judiciaire that skipped the Justice ministry.
- Name spellings that differ between extrait, translation and passport.
- Laminated diplomas, which MOFA cannot stamp.
