Fees and steps checked on
Mauritius certificate attestation is the work that lets a Mauritian HSC, degree from the University of Mauritius, birth or marriage record, or notarial deed count in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates. Mauritius belongs to the Hague Apostille Convention. The UAE does not. So a Mauritian paper needs a Mauritian government stamp, then a UAE embassy stamp, then MOFA attestation inside the UAE.
Price: There is no fixed price for Mauritius. Send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. Read attestation fees to see what sits inside that figure.
Who we are: a private document service based in Bur Dubai. We are not MOFA, an embassy or a government office. We collect and return your papers free of charge anywhere in Dubai.
The short answer for busy readers
If your certificate already carries a Mauritian apostille, you are probably one third of the way there. Still missing: the UAE embassy step and MOFA. If it has no stamp at all, start with the Mauritian authority. Either way, a photo of the front and back tells us where you stand.
Where the UAE embassy step happens
This is the unusual part. MOFA reported in 2020 that the UAE ambassador in Maputo, Mozambique, had been accredited to Mauritius as a non-resident envoy. We could not confirm a resident UAE embassy in Port Louis. That means the embassy step is handled by whichever UAE mission is accredited to Mauritius at the time, and the original may need to travel off the island. Mauritius is also absent from the VFS Global country list for UAE attestation. We confirm the current mission and how it accepts documents before you send anything.
Starting points inside Mauritius
Civil Status Division. Birth, marriage and death certificates are issued from its office in the Emmanuel Anquetil Building, Port Louis, and through local civil status offices. Ask for a fresh copy, because some authorities want a recent issue date.
Mauritius Examinations Syndicate. School Certificate and Higher School Certificate results are issued with Cambridge. Teachers and anyone applying to a UAE university are often asked for the HSC.
Universities. A degree from the University of Mauritius or another local institution is checked against the university's signature before the government step.
Notaries and attorneys. A power of attorney or affidavit signed in Mauritius is witnessed first, then certified by the government.
Registrar of Companies. Extracts and company papers for a UAE trade licence or bank account, attested in the commercial category at the UAE end.
English, French and Creole
Most Mauritian official papers are in English, which MOFA accepts as it is. Older civil records and notarial deeds can be in French, and those need a certified translation into English or Arabic. Where a UAE court asks for Arabic as well, legal translation in Dubai can be done once the document is back.
What Mauritians in the UAE usually need
- A spouse visa: the marriage certificate. See marriage certificate attestation.
- A newborn or child visa: the birth certificate. See birth certificate attestation.
- A skilled work permit: the degree, sometimes the HSC too. See degree certificate attestation.
You do not need to fly home. A relative in Mauritius can collect fresh certificates, or the original travels by courier.
Fees and timing
Every Mauritian and UAE official charge, and the courier legs, are inside the one total we quote. The Mauritian step and the embassy step take most of the time. Once a document is back in the UAE, MOFA courier attestation usually takes 1 to 3 business days.
Before you send anything
- Do not laminate certificates. MOFA refuses them.
- Check that the name matches your passport, including accents and the order of first names.
- Keep the apostille attached. Removing staples or pages can void it.
Papers from the Seychelles have their own chain on Seychelles certificate attestation. Other routes are on attestation by country.
