Fees and steps checked on
If you married in Kuwait City or Hawalli and now hold a UAE residence visa, your spouse's visa depends on a Kuwaiti marriage contract that the UAE recognises. Kuwait is outside the Apostille Convention, so recognition comes through legalisation. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs stamps the contract, the UAE Embassy in Kuwait stamps that, and MOFA attestation completes it.
Our role: DubaiCertificateAttestation.com is a private document service, not MOFA, an embassy or a government office. We send a courier to collect your papers free of charge anywhere in Dubai, and bring them back the same way.
Price: There is no fixed price for Kuwait. Send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. See attestation fees.
Ministry of Justice contracts
Marriages in Kuwait are documented by the Ministry of Justice. For civil contracts, such as marriages between non-Muslims, its Documentation Department draws up and ratifies the contract. Either way, a Ministry of Justice contract is what the Kuwaiti foreign ministry expects to see. If your contract was signed by a church or a foreign embassy in Kuwait instead, its route may be different, and we confirm that from a photo.
Three stamps after the contract
- Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Legalises the Ministry of Justice signature. A marriage contract skips the Ministry of Education, which only applies to study papers.
- UAE Embassy in Kuwait. Its consular section attests the foreign ministry stamp. The embassy says its fees change with the document type and are paid by card, and they are already inside our price.
- MOFA. The UAE's final stamp. Some Gulf embassies now add it online in the same application. We have not confirmed that for every Kuwaiti document, so the quote tells you whether MOFA comes digitally or as a separate courier step, which usually takes 1 to 3 business days.
A quicker file than a degree
A Kuwaiti degree has to pass the university and the education ministry before reaching the foreign ministry. A marriage contract does not, so it normally moves faster. If you hold both, the contract can go ahead while the degree waits on the education step. That way your spouse's visa is not held up by your own job paperwork, and the two parcels can still share a courier on the way back to Dubai.
Civil IDs help
Bring copies of your Kuwaiti civil ID cards, even expired ones. They show how Kuwait wrote your names in English. When those differ from your passports, the UAE family visa officer may question whether the contract and the passport describe the same people. Spotting it early saves a rejection.
Checklist
- Original Ministry of Justice marriage contract.
- Passports for husband and wife.
- Kuwaiti civil ID copies.
- Your spouse visa deadline, so we can tell you honestly if it is realistic.
Language and children
Ministry of Justice contracts are written in Arabic, which MOFA accepts without translation. An English legal translation is only needed if someone in the UAE asks. Children born in Kuwait need their birth certificates attested for their own visas, through the same foreign ministry and embassy steps. See attestation for a family visa and birth certificate attestation.
Where Kuwaiti marriage files slip
- A copy sent instead of the original. Personal certificates go as originals.
- Married elsewhere, lived in Kuwait. A wedding in Egypt or India follows that country's route.
- Lamination. MOFA refuses laminated papers.
