MOFA attestation is the stamp of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It confirms that a document is genuine so it can be used in Dubai and the rest of the UAE. Employers, schools, banks, free zones and visa offices often ask for it.

What MOFA attestation is for
MOFA attestation is the last step before a document can be used in the UAE. It shows that the stamps already on the document are real. Without it, many offices in Dubai will not accept a certificate from abroad, or a UAE document for some official uses.

UAE-issued vs foreign documents
UAE-issued documents. A document from a UAE authority first needs the stamp of whoever issued it, such as the university, the court or the ministry. Then it goes to MOFA. This is the quick route, usually 2 to 3 working days with us.
Foreign documents. A document from abroad needs stamps in the issuing country first. That usually means a notary or certified copy, the home foreign ministry and the UAE embassy in that country. MOFA comes last, in the UAE. This takes longer and costs more. UK documents start from AED 985 plus VAT and USA documents from AED 1,025 plus VAT. Other countries are quoted after you send a photo.
The digital route and service centres in Dubai
MOFA now handles most attestation requests online, through its website and app with UAE PASS. A courier collects the original and returns it. Some eligible UAE digital documents can be attested without a paper original.

Timing
A UAE document that only needs the MOFA stamp usually takes 2 to 3 working days with us. Foreign documents take longer. For example, a UK personal document on the standard route takes 22 to 24 working days, and a USA personal document takes about 7 weeks. We tell you the expected time before any work starts.
