Fees and steps checked on
Myanmar certificate attestation prepares a Burmese degree, birth certificate, marriage certificate or business paper for use in the UAE. Myanmar has no apostille, so the chain is: a notary translation in Yangon or Nay Pyi Taw, legalisation by the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE mission step, then MOFA attestation in the UAE.
Price: send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. See attestation fees.
The stamp lands on the translation
Official Dutch government guidance on Myanmar documents explains that a Burmese document is translated by a notary in the Yangon or Nay Pyi Taw region, and that the legalisation department of the Myanmar foreign ministry legalises only the notary's signature on that translation, not the original. That changes how you prepare. The translation must be accurate, complete and spelled exactly like your passport, because every later stamp sits on top of it.
Route for Myanmar papers
- Original from the issuing office. University, basic education office, township registry, court.
- Notary translation. A notary in Yangon or Nay Pyi Taw translates the paper into English and signs the translation.
- Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The legalisation department legalises the notary's signature.
- UAE mission step. Attests the Myanmar ministry stamp, paid through the MOFA system.
- MOFA in the UAE. The final stamp, with its fee included in our total.
The UAE side
The UAE and Myanmar signed a joint communique establishing diplomatic relations in November 2020, and a UAE Ambassador to Myanmar took the oath in Abu Dhabi in March 2024. MOFA does not publish a Myanmar attestation page, so we confirm the current procedure and the office that applies the stamp from your copy, before your original or translation travels.
Common Myanmar documents
| Document | Usual UAE use | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| University degree and marks list | Job offer, degree certificate attestation | Both often requested by employers |
| Birth certificate | Child residence visa | Translation by a notary |
| Marriage certificate or contract | Spouse visa, marriage certificate attestation | Names must match passports |
| Matriculation certificate | School or university entry | Translation by a notary |
English and Arabic in the UAE
Because the notary translation is already in English, MOFA can read it. UAE courts, some ministries and some employers still want Arabic. For those we add a legal translation in Dubai by a translator licensed in the UAE, translating the stamps as well as the text.
From inside the UAE
The notary and ministry steps need someone in Myanmar holding the original. The UAE stage can be done without you, since MOFA accepts applications made on someone else's behalf.
Problems to watch
- Name spellings. Burmese names have no fixed romanisation. Use the passport spelling everywhere.
- Partial translation. Every seal and note on the original should appear in the translation.
- Laminated originals. MOFA does not accept them.
If you also hold documents issued in Thailand, they follow Thailand certificate attestation.
