Fees and steps checked on
Netherlands certificate attestation makes a Dutch diploma, birth certificate, marriage certificate or company document valid for a UAE visa, job or court. The UAE is not in the Hague Apostille Convention, so a Dutch apostille alone is refused. The usual route is DUO for education documents, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE Embassy in The Hague, then MOFA attestation in the UAE.
Price: send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. There is no fixed Netherlands price, because the chain depends on the document. See attestation fees.
The Netherlands to UAE route
The Dutch chain listed by VFS Global, the service provider that processes UAE embassy attestation for about 50 countries including the Netherlands, is short compared with most of Europe:
- DUO (education documents only). Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs checks and certifies Dutch diplomas, degree certificates and transcripts.
- Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry legalises the document, or the DUO certification on it.
- UAE Embassy in The Hague. The embassy attests the Dutch foreign ministry stamp. You apply through the MOFA portal, and the government fees are paid there.
- MOFA in the UAE. The final stamp. If the embassy issues the digital attestation, MOFA's stamp comes with it; if not, MOFA is a separate step inside the UAE.
The Netherlands is a member of the Apostille Convention, so Dutch offices often suggest an apostille. For the UAE you need the legalisation chain above instead, and we make sure the document is sent down the right one.

Fees and timing
Your quote includes the DUO, Dutch ministry, UAE mission and MOFA fees. Time depends mostly on DUO and the Dutch foreign ministry, and is confirmed with your quote. The UAE end is short: MOFA courier attestation inside the UAE usually takes 1 to 3 business days.
Using a Dutch diploma in the UAE
A Dutch degree used for a skilled work permit or a golden visa usually needs more than attestation. After the chain above, the UAE Ministry of Higher Education may need to recognise it through the equivalency certificate process, which starts with verification by an approved partner. See degree certificate attestation for the full picture.
Already in the UAE?
You can do all of this from Dubai, Abu Dhabi or any emirate. The original travels to the Netherlands for DUO and the foreign ministry, and comes back attested. MOFA allows anyone to submit the application on your behalf, so you do not need to appear in person anywhere.
A spouse or child with certificates from Belgium needs that country's own chain: see Belgium certificate attestation.
Common problems with Dutch documents
- Dutch-only documents. A certificate written only in Dutch needs a certified translation into Arabic or English before MOFA accepts it. Plan the legal translation at the start, not after a refusal.
- Diploma not through DUO. A degree sent straight to the foreign ministry can be refused. Education documents go to DUO first.
- Copies instead of originals. MOFA attests originals (or digital documents with a QR code), not plain photocopies.
- Lamination. A laminated certificate cannot be attested. Keep it in a plastic sleeve instead.
