Fees and steps checked on
Qatar certificate attestation makes a Qatari degree, school certificate, marriage contract or company document valid in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates. Qatar is outside the Apostille Convention, so the chain is legalisation: the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs first, then the UAE Embassy in Doha. The embassy now attests digitally, and the same application carries MOFA attestation for the UAE.
Price: send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. Qatari ministry fees are not published in a form we could confirm, so each file is quoted individually. See attestation fees.
Route for Qatari documents
- Issuer in Qatar. The school, university, court or ministry that issued the paper. A power of attorney is first signed before a Qatari notary or legal authority.
- Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Doha ministry legalises the document. Since October 2024 some documents, such as Ministry of Interior police certificates and certificates from government schools already authenticated by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, can be attested electronically.
- UAE Embassy in Doha, digital. The application is filed on the UAE MOFA website with UAE PASS, with Qatar as the issuing country. An approved provider picks up the original, and you receive the document by email attested by the embassy and by MOFA together.
- Courier return. The paper original comes back to you. Check the attestation any time at verify.mofa.gov.ae.
What the UAE side checks
| Item | What is needed |
|---|---|
| The document | Original, not laminated, with the Qatari ministry stamp |
| Identity | Passport copy and Qatar ID copy |
| Birth, marriage, death certificates | Must be the original, not a copy |
| Power of attorney | Signed before a Qatari notary, then the Qatari ministry |
| Memorandum and articles | Attested separately, not as one set |
| Commercial invoices | Not through the embassy: these go through eDAS 2.0 |

Not a Gulf shortcut
People who relocate from Doha to Dubai are often told a GCC certificate goes straight through. We have found no official rule that says so. The UAE Embassy in Doha page lists the Qatari foreign ministry as a required first step, so plan for the full chain.
Living in Dubai with a Qatari certificate
The Qatari steps need the original in Qatar. A courier or a relative in Doha hands it in, and the attested original comes back to the UAE. MOFA lets anyone apply on your behalf, so you do not need leave or a trip. The embassy courier window is short: pickup within 24 hours of the online application, return 24 to 48 hours after release.
Which Qatari papers people need for the UAE
Most Qatari files we see fall into three groups. Expat families moving from Doha to Dubai need their children's Qatari school certificates for a new school. Professionals need a Qatari university degree, or an experience letter from a Doha employer, for a work permit. Couples who married in Qatar need the marriage certificate for a spouse visa. Each group has a different first stamp in Qatar, so tell us what the document is for when you send the copy.
If you also studied, married or had a child in Bahrain, the steps for those papers are on Bahrain certificate attestation.
Problems with Qatari files
- Expat school certificates. A child's Qatari school certificate may need a Ministry of Education and Higher Education step first. For a Dubai school transfer, see attestation for school admission.
- Foreign documents attested in Doha. The Doha embassy only accepts documents issued in Qatar. A UK degree that you used in Qatar goes through the UK route instead.
- Name spelling. Qatar ID transliteration and your passport can differ. Send both copies with the file.
- Language. Most Qatari documents are in Arabic, which MOFA accepts. A bilingual employer may still ask for a legal translation.
For degrees for a work permit, see degree certificate attestation.
