Fees and steps checked on
Taiwan certificate attestation is the most unusual route on this site. The Taiwanese side is well documented: a notary or District Court, then authentication by the Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA) of Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The UAE side is not, because we found no UAE embassy in Taiwan, so the step between BOCA and MOFA attestation is confirmed per document when you send a copy.
Price: send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. See attestation fees.
Why Taiwan is a special case
For nearly every other country, the UAE embassy in that country attests the foreign ministry stamp, and MOFA finishes the job. The UAE has no mission listed in Taiwan. Taiwan, for its part, runs the Commercial Office of Taipei in Dubai, which serves Taiwanese nationals but is not a UAE office. So the route for a Taiwanese degree or marriage certificate depends on what the UAE body receiving it will accept, and we check that before you pay for anything. If the answer is that a step is not possible for your paper, you hear it first.
The Taiwanese steps, from BOCA's own pages
- Notarisation. BOCA requires domestic documents, and their translations, to be notarised or attested at a District Court or a Notary Public Office before authentication.
- BOCA authentication. At BOCA in Taipei or a MOFA branch office. Walk-in only, served in order of arrival, 8:30 to 17:00 on working days.
- Time. Ready after two working days, or after one working day on the expedited service.
- Copy for the record. BOCA keeps one notarised copy of each document.
- UAE steps. Confirmed per file, ending with MOFA.
Documents and their first office
| Document | First Taiwanese office | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor's or master's diploma | Notary Public Office, with English translation | BOCA, then UAE steps |
| Household registration transcript | District Court or notary | BOCA, then UAE steps |
| Marriage registration | District Court or notary | BOCA, then UAE steps |
| Company registration | Notary | BOCA, then UAE steps (commercial fee) |
University degrees are the most common request; general advice is on degree certificate attestation.
Translation
Most Taiwanese public documents are in traditional Chinese. MOFA needs Arabic, English or a legally certified translation. Since BOCA wants the translation notarised alongside the original, it is usually best done in Taiwan before authentication. An Arabic version for a UAE court can be added through legal translation in Dubai.
From inside the UAE
BOCA is walk-in only, so someone in Taiwan holding the original needs to visit. Everything on the UAE side can be done on your behalf. For how embassy steps work in general, see embassy attestation in the UAE.
Holding a second set of papers from China? The route is on China certificate attestation, and both sets can go into one request.
Things to check first
- Ask the UAE employer or authority exactly what they need before notarising.
- Use the English name exactly as it appears in your passport.
- Do not laminate the original. MOFA refuses laminated papers.
Other countries are on attestation by country.
