Fees and steps checked on
Chad certificate attestation is the legalisation chain that lets a Chadian birth certificate, marriage certificate, school diploma or company paper be used in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or any other emirate. Chad does not issue apostilles, so each document is legalised by the Chadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attested by the UAE Embassy in N'Djamena, and finished with MOFA attestation in the UAE.
Price: send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. Details are on attestation fees.
Two official languages, one practical advantage
Chad uses both French and Arabic. That matters more than it sounds. MOFA accepts documents written in Arabic or English, so a Chadian certificate issued in Arabic can often move through the UAE steps without a translation. A French certificate cannot: it needs a legally certified translation, and UAE employers and courts often want Arabic. Many Chadian papers mix both languages on one page, so we read your copy before deciding. Where a translation is needed we arrange legal translation in Dubai.
How the chain runs for Chadian papers
- Obtain the original from the registry, school or court that issued it.
- Have it legalised by the Chadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in N'Djamena.
- Send it to the UAE Embassy in N'Djamena, which attests the ministry stamp. The mission fee is paid through the MOFA system.
- Finish with MOFA in the UAE.
- Add a translation at the point agreed, if the paper is in French.
Court judgments and late registration
Official Dutch government guidance notes that when a Chadian birth was registered by a court, a judgment known as a jugement supplétif is issued. In the UAE, a school, hospital or immigration officer may ask for the birth certificate, the judgment, or both. Send us every paper you hold and we confirm which one the receiving office wants attested before money is spent on the wrong one. The usual birth route is explained on birth certificate attestation.
Chadian documents at a glance
| Paper | Language usually seen | Translation for MOFA | Final steps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acte de naissance | French, sometimes Arabic | Only if not in Arabic | Foreign ministry, Embassy N'Djamena, MOFA |
| Acte de mariage | French or Arabic | Only if not in Arabic | Foreign ministry, Embassy N'Djamena, MOFA |
| Baccalauréat, university diploma | French or Arabic | Only if not in Arabic | Foreign ministry, Embassy N'Djamena, MOFA |
| Power of attorney | French or Arabic | Only if not in Arabic | Notary, foreign ministry, Embassy, MOFA |
For a family visa built on a marriage certificate attestation, the Chadian side is the same; only the first office differs.
Living in the UAE already?
You can keep working while the paper travels. The original goes to N'Djamena with a courier or a relative, comes back with the two stamps, and the MOFA step is filed for you inside the UAE. Once MOFA has stamped it, the reference can be checked online by the receiving office.
Families in the UAE often hold papers from more than one country. If some of yours come from Sudan, use the route on Sudan certificate attestation for those.
Mistakes to avoid
- Laminating the certificate. MOFA refuses laminated papers.
- Sending a photocopy for a civil record. Birth and marriage papers go through the chain as originals.
- Assuming an Arabic heading means the whole page is in Arabic. Mixed pages often still need a translation.
Neighbouring and other countries are on attestation by country.
