Dominican Republic certificate attestation makes an acta de nacimiento, acta de matrimonio, título or notarial document from the Dominican Republic usable for a UAE visa, job or company file. The Dominican steps are well defined: MESCyT for academic titles, then MIREX in Santo Domingo. The UAE step is less obvious, because there is no UAE embassy in the country, so we confirm the current mission route for each document before it moves.

The Dominican side
- Junta Central Electoral or the issuing office for civil records, a notary for powers of attorney and private documents, and the university for degrees.
- MESCyT for university titles and academic records. The higher education ministry legalises them, using its online Expediente Único Educativo platform.
- MIREX, the Dominican foreign ministry, through its Dirección de Legalización de Documentos. MIREX is the Dominican Republic's apostille authority, and it also legalises documents. MIREX apostilles can be checked on its online verification service.

If you are already in the UAE
You do not need to fly to Santo Domingo. A relative or courier takes the original to MIREX and, for degrees, MESCyT. The UAE step is then arranged on the confirmed route and the original comes back to you in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.
What slows Dominican files down
- Apostille assumed to be enough. It is the right document for Hague countries, not for the UAE on its own.
- Degree without MESCyT. MIREX expects the academic legalisation first.
- Name differences. Dominican actas can show both surnames, while a passport may show one. Keep a passport copy with the file.
- Spanish only. Plan an English or Arabic legal translation for UAE use.
