Fees and steps checked on
Kazakhstan certificate attestation for the UAE has one trap that catches many people: the apostille. Kazakhstan has issued apostilles since 2001, yet the UAE is outside the Hague Convention, so a Kazakh apostille does not count in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The working chain is consular legalisation at the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the UAE Embassy in Astana, then MOFA attestation.
Price: send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. See attestation fees.
Apostille or legalisation: what Kazakhstan does for the UAE
Inside Kazakhstan two different stamps exist. The apostille serves Convention countries such as Germany or Russia. Consular legalisation serves the rest, and the UAE is in that group. If someone in Almaty offers you a quick apostille "for Dubai", that is the wrong product. Our attestation vs apostille guide explains the difference in plain terms.
The Kazakhstan to UAE chain
- Issuing body and notary. A diploma comes from the university, a birth or marriage record from the civil registry (ZAGS). Copies and translations are notarised where needed.
- Translation. Kazakh or Russian text is translated into English or Arabic, usually by a notarised translator.
- Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Legalisation happens at the Consular Service Department in Astana or the ministry's office in Almaty.
- UAE Embassy in Astana. The embassy on Taulesizdik Avenue confirms the Kazakh foreign ministry stamp. Its attestation procedure is not published online, so the current submission method is confirmed when you send a copy.
- MOFA in the UAE. The final stamp.
Which Kazakh documents we see most
| Document | Who issues it | Note for the UAE |
|---|---|---|
| Diploma and supplement | University | Needed for skilled work permits and degree certificate attestation |
| Birth certificate (svidetelstvo o rozhdenii) | Civil registry | For a child's residence visa |
| Marriage certificate | Civil registry | For a spouse visa |
| Power of attorney | Kazakh notary | Personal or commercial, depending on content |
| Company charter, registration extract | Justice bodies, notary | Commercial fee at MOFA |
Electronic documents and eGov printouts
Kazakhstan issues many records electronically through eGov. That is convenient at home, but the foreign ministry says it does not legalise electronic documents or papers without the signature and seal of an authorised official. Ask the registry or university for a signed, stamped paper document before you start, or the chain stops at step 3.
Names, Cyrillic and translation
Kazakh records often carry your name in Cyrillic, sometimes in Kazakh and Russian spellings that differ from your passport. Translators should copy the Latin spelling from your passport exactly. For use in a UAE court or ministry, an Arabic version by a Ministry of Justice licensed translator may also be asked for; we arrange legal translation in Dubai at the right point.
A spouse or child with certificates from Uzbekistan needs that country's own chain: see Uzbekistan certificate attestation.
Doing it from the UAE
If you live in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah, you do not need to fly home. The original goes to Kazakhstan by courier or with a relative, passes the ministry and the embassy, and comes back to you. A birth certificate attestation for a newborn's sponsor file follows the same route as a diploma; only the issuing office changes.
