South Africa birth certificate attestation lets parents use a South African birth certificate for a child's UAE residence visa or school enrolment. Each certificate goes from the Department of Home Affairs to DIRCO for free legalisation, then to the UAE Embassy in Pretoria, and ends with MOFA attestation in the UAE. The version of the certificate you hold matters more here than for most countries.

Abridged or unabridged: check this first
South Africa issues birth certificates in more than one format, and a family can easily hold a version that is not suitable for the chain. Do not guess. Send us a photo and we confirm before anything is couriered. If a new certificate is needed, it has to be ordered from Home Affairs first, which adds time, so raise it early if your visa or school date is close.

Avoidable delays
