Fees and steps checked on
Tajikistan certificate attestation is how a Tajik diploma, birth certificate or marriage certificate becomes usable for a UAE visa, job or school place. The unusual part is geography: MOFA's list of UAE missions has no embassy in Tajikistan, so after the Tajik ministries in Dushanbe the document crosses a border for its UAE embassy stamp before MOFA attestation in the UAE.
Price: send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. See attestation fees.
Why the embassy step is outside Tajikistan
When a UAE ambassador presented credentials in Dushanbe in 2022, MOFA described him as a non-resident ambassador. VFS Global, which handles attestation for MOFA, lists the UAE Embassy in Kazakhstan as the embassy step for Tajik documents. Our Kazakhstan certificate attestation page covers that embassy in Astana. Because MOFA has not published a procedure for Tajik documents, we confirm the live submission point for each file and tell you before anything is sent. The steps inside Tajikistan stay the same either way, so the Dushanbe part can start while that check runs.
The Tajik sequence, in order
- Translation. Tajik or Russian text is translated into English or Arabic.
- Notary. A Tajik notary certifies the copy and the translator's signature.
- Ministry of Justice. Confirms the notary.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan. Legalises the justice stamp for use abroad.
- UAE embassy outside Tajikistan. Kazakhstan on the VFS chain, confirmed per file.
- MOFA in the UAE. MOFA attests personal and commercial documents.
On the VFS chain the translation is listed first, before the notary, unlike countries where it is added at the end. Plan for it early, because the later stamps sit on the translated set.
Typical Tajik documents
| Document | Issued by | Why people need it in the UAE |
|---|---|---|
| Diploma (university or college) | Educational institution | Skilled work permit, degree certificate attestation |
| Birth certificate | Civil registry (ZAGS) | Child's residence visa, birth certificate attestation |
| Marriage certificate | Civil registry | Spouse visa |
| Divorce certificate or court decision | Registry or court | Remarriage or custody matters |
| Power of attorney | Tajik notary | Property, banking, company use |
Problems seen with Tajik paperwork
- Old Soviet-era certificates. Some parents hold birth certificates issued before 1991. If stamps are faded or entries handwritten, ask the registry for a fresh certificate before you start, so the ministries have a clear document to legalise.
- Different spellings. A name written in Tajik Cyrillic may be transliterated three ways. The translator should match your passport.
- Apostille confusion. An apostilled document looks official but stops short for the UAE.
- Lamination. MOFA does not accept laminated originals.
Staying in the UAE while it is done
You can remain in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah. The original goes to Dushanbe by courier or with a relative, then on to the embassy stage, and returns to you after MOFA. If a UAE court or authority asks for Arabic, our legal translation in Dubai team prepares a certified Arabic version from the attested original.
