Vietnam certificate attestation makes a Vietnamese university diploma, transcript, birth certificate, marriage certificate or business registration valid in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. A Vietnamese-language document is translated and notarised, legalised by the Consular Department of Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attested by the UAE Embassy in Hanoi and closed with MOFA attestation in the UAE.

What changed in Vietnam in 2026
The Apostille Convention entered into force for Vietnam on 11 September 2026, under Decree 293/2026/ND-CP. For countries in the Convention, one apostille now replaces consular legalisation. For countries outside it, consular legalisation continues, and the UAE is outside it. So a Vietnamese apostille is useful for Europe or Japan, but a file for the UAE still follows the older chain. The Vietnamese route, step by step
- Sworn translation and notarisation. VFS Global, MOFA's attestation service provider, lists this as the first step. The Vietnamese original and its English translation are both certified.
- Ministry of Education and Training (academic papers). Diplomas and transcripts pass through the education side first.
- Consular Department, Hanoi, or the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ho Chi Minh City. The foreign ministry legalises the seal and signature for use abroad.
- UAE Embassy in Hanoi. The embassy attests the Vietnamese foreign ministry stamp.
- MOFA UAE. The last stamp, done online inside the UAE.

Every official fee and the courier are included in the total price you get before any work starts. That covers the Vietnamese translation, notary and legalisation fees too.
Handling it from Dubai
You do not need to fly back to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. The original goes to Vietnam by courier or with family, passes the translation, the foreign affairs office and the UAE Embassy, and returns for the MOFA stage. Anyone may apply to MOFA for you.
Vietnamese files: common issues
- Diacritics in names. Vietnamese names lose their accents in passports. A translation should spell the name exactly as the passport does, without the marks.
- Name order. Family name first on Vietnamese papers, last on many UAE forms. Keep a passport copy with every document.
- Translation only on one side. Both the original and the translation must be certified, or the foreign ministry may refuse the set.
- Arabic for UAE courts. If a court or ministry wants Arabic, we add a legal translation in Dubai at the end of the chain.
Families in the UAE often hold papers from more than one country. If some of yours come from Laos, use the route on Laos certificate attestation for those.
Why Vietnamese papers are needed in the UAE
Vietnamese files usually serve one of three purposes. A diploma for a skilled work permit, where the attested degree is checked before the permit is issued. A marriage certificate and children's birth certificates for a family residence visa. And a business registration or power of attorney for a company opening a branch or trading account in a free zone. Each of these needs the full chain, and the commercial papers carry MOFA's higher fee, so only attest what the UAE authority actually asks for.
