Indonesia certificate attestation makes an Indonesian ijazah (diploma), transcript, akta kelahiran (birth certificate), marriage book or company deed usable in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the other emirates. The usual chain is a sworn translation and notary where needed, the Ministry of Law, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu), then the UAE Embassy in Jakarta, whose digital attestation already includes MOFA attestation.
Price: send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. There is no single Indonesia price because translation and the first ministry depend on the document. See attestation fees.
The Indonesia to UAE route
- Notary and sworn translation. VFS Global lists notarisation and translation as the first step. A sworn translator (penerjemah tersumpah) prepares the English version.
- Education or civil registry check. VFS lists the education ministry for academic papers and the justice side for personal ones.
- Ministry of Law. Indonesia's apostilles are issued online through apostille.ahu.go.id. For the UAE, this ministry's legalisation is a step, not the finish.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu). The UAE Embassy in Indonesia states that Indonesia-issued documents must first be attested by the Indonesian foreign ministry.
- UAE Embassy in Jakarta, digital. On the MOFA portal you choose UAE Embassy and Consulate Abroad, select Indonesia and the VFS or BLS service, then hand in the originals at a centre or to the courier. The result is attested by the embassy and MOFA at once.
The difference between the two systems is explained on attestation vs apostille.
Indonesian documents and their steps
| Document | First steps in Indonesia | Foreign ministry | UAE stage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ijazah and transkrip nilai | University, education ministry, sworn translation | Kemlu | UAE Embassy Jakarta digital (includes MOFA) |
| Akta kelahiran (birth) | Civil registry (Dukcapil), sworn translation | Kemlu | UAE Embassy Jakarta digital (includes MOFA) |
| Buku nikah or marriage certificate | KUA or civil registry, sworn translation | Kemlu | UAE Embassy Jakarta digital (includes MOFA) |
| Power of attorney | Signed before an Indonesian notary | Kemlu | UAE Embassy Jakarta digital (commercial if commercial content) |
| Akta pendirian, company deeds | Notary, Ministry of Law | Kemlu | UAE Embassy Jakarta digital (commercial fee) |
The embassy attests each document separately, refuses bundles and laminated papers, and wants birth, marriage and death certificates as originals.
What the official fees look like
Your quote includes every official fee: Indonesian notary, translation and ministry fees, the UAE mission fee and MOFA. A commercial document such as a company deed is charged at MOFA's commercial rate.
Indonesian residents of the UAE
The usual reason is a diploma for a new job or a marriage book for a family visa. You do not have to fly to Jakarta. Family can deliver the originals to a VFS or BLS centre, or a courier collects them. Up to three documents fit in one application, so a couple's marriage book and two children's birth certificates may need two applications.
A spouse or child with certificates from Malaysia needs that country's own chain: see Malaysia certificate attestation.
Common problems with Indonesian files
- Bahasa Indonesia only. Without an English or Arabic translation the file stops at MOFA. We can arrange Indonesian to English or Arabic translation in Dubai when a UAE court or ministry needs Arabic.
- Single names. Many Indonesians have one name only. UAE forms ask for a first and last name, so keep the passport layout consistent across all attested papers.
- Apostille mistaken for the end. An AHU apostille looks final but the UAE still needs Kemlu and the embassy.
- Too many documents per application. The portal caps applications at three documents.
