Ireland birth certificate attestation makes an Irish birth certificate valid in the UAE, usually for a child's residence visa or a school place. Each certificate is stamped by the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), passed through the UAE embassy step for Irish documents and finished with MOFA attestation. Every child counts as a separate document.

What families use it for
Residence visas for children. GDRFA in Dubai lists an attested birth certificate for each sponsored child, and the same document supports applications through ICP in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the other emirates. The full family list is in documents to attest for a UAE family visa.
School enrolment. Some schools ask for an attested birth certificate at admission, alongside reports or a transfer certificate. Read attestation for school admission before you book anything with a school.
Adults. Your own Irish birth certificate can be requested in some UAE personal status matters, and it follows exactly the same chain.

The process for an Irish birth certificate
- Photo check. You send a photo of each certificate. We confirm it is an official certificate from the civil registration service and the right version for the chain.
- Courier to Ireland. The originals travel together, so the family file stays in one batch.
- DFA. The Department of Foreign Affairs authenticates each certificate, one stamp per document.
- UAE embassy step. Each certificate is attested by the UAE mission handling Irish documents. We confirm the current mission and timing with your quote.
- MOFA. MOFA attests each certificate as a personal document.
- Back to you. The attested certificates return to your address in the UAE, ready for the visa or school file. Add a legal translation only if an office asks for Arabic.
Pair it with the marriage certificate
When parents sponsor children, the visa file usually also needs an attested Irish marriage certificate. Send it in the same batch. One courier run and one DFA submission is quicker than two separate rounds.
Problems we see with children's certificates
- Photocopies. MOFA attests originals only.
- Lamination. Parents sometimes laminate a child's certificate to protect it. It will be rejected, so order a replacement.
- Spelling. The child's name must match the passport. Fix differences before you start.
