Fees and steps checked on
Jordanian birth certificate attestation is what a parent in the UAE needs when a child born in Jordan joins the family on a residence visa, starts at a UAE school, or needs papers for a passport or court matter. The chain is: a birth certificate from the Civil Status and Passports Department, legalisation by the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then digital attestation by the UAE Embassy in Amman together with MOFA.
We are a private document service, not MOFA, an embassy or a government office. We handle the Jordanian and UAE stages, with free document pickup and delivery anywhere in Dubai.
Price: There is no fixed price for Jordan. Send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. See attestation fees.
Jordan's digital birth certificates
Jordan changed how vital certificates are issued. The Civil Status and Passports Department now issues them through electronic channels such as the Sanad app, and in-person requests at its offices were cancelled. The digital certificate is a PDF with a QR code that any office in Jordan can check.
That helps families abroad, because nobody has to queue in Amman for a new copy. But the UAE does not read Jordanian QR codes. A UAE visa or school file still needs the certificate legalised in Jordan and attested by the UAE side. Before the file starts, we check what form of the certificate the foreign ministry will accept for your case.
Documents you need
- The child's Jordanian birth certificate, one per child, ordered recently from the Civil Status and Passports Department.
- The child's passport copy and the parents' passport copies.
- The parents' attested marriage certificate if the child's visa is being filed at the same time. See Jordanian marriage certificate attestation.
- The family book (daftar al-a'ila) copy, only if an office asks to see the child's entry.
Step by step for each child
- Order the certificate. A parent or relative orders it through the department's electronic channels.
- Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry legalises the civil status document in Amman.
- UAE MOFA application. We file it online with UAE PASS, choosing Jordan as the issuing country.
- Collection and digital attestation. An approved courier collects the original, and the UAE Embassy in Amman and MOFA attest it together. The attested copy arrives by email and the original returns.
- Use it. The certificate is ready for GDRFA, ICP or the school.
What families use it for
| Purpose | Who asks |
|---|---|
| Child residence visa and Emirates ID | GDRFA in Dubai, ICP in the other emirates |
| School registration | Many private schools, often at first enrolment |
| Proof of parentage for a sponsor | Visa and court files |
| Adult's own birth certificate | Some personal status and name change files |
The full family visa checklist is on family visa services in Dubai, and school requests on attestation for school admission.
Common problems with Jordanian birth certificates
- Assuming the QR code is enough. A digital Jordanian certificate is genuine in Jordan, but the UAE still needs the foreign ministry and embassy stamps.
- A Jordanian embassy registration for a UAE-born child. If the child was born in Dubai, attest the UAE certificate instead. Sending the Jordanian record to Amman is wasted time.
- Name order. Jordanian certificates list the child's name with the father's and grandfather's names. If the passport shortens it, keep the passport copy with the file so the visa officer can match them.
One batch for the family
Most parents attest the marriage certificate and every child's birth certificate together, since the spouse and child visas sit in one file. Your own degree can join the same round. See Jordanian degree attestation. General rules are on birth certificate attestation, and every Jordanian document is on Jordan certificate attestation.
