Fees and steps checked on
Jordanian marriage certificate attestation is the step a Jordanian resident in the UAE needs before sponsoring a husband or wife for a residence visa. The contract comes from the court that registered the marriage. It is legalised by the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then attested digitally by the UAE Embassy in Amman together with MOFA. No separate MOFA step is needed once it reaches Dubai.
We are a private document service, not MOFA, an embassy or a government office. We run the Jordanian and UAE stages, with free document pickup and delivery anywhere in Dubai.
Price: There is no fixed price for Jordan. Send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. See attestation fees.
Courts, not a civil registrar
Jordan has no civil marriage. A marriage is concluded and registered under the couple's religion:
- Muslim couples register the contract at a Sharia court. Jordan's official Iftaa Department says documenting the contract at a Sharia court is necessary to protect the rights of both spouses.
- Christian couples marry under their church, and the marriage is recorded by the church court of their denomination.
The marriage is then entered in the civil status records, and the Civil Status and Passports Department can issue a marriage certificate from them. For the UAE, we work from whichever paper you hold and confirm what the foreign ministry will legalise for your case.
Documents you need
- The court marriage contract or the civil status marriage certificate.
- Passport copies of both spouses.
- Any earlier divorce or death certificate if the sponsor or spouse was married before and the visa file asks for it.
- No lamination, and no handwritten changes on the contract.
Step by step
- Get a clean copy. If your contract is worn or the court has issued newer formats, a fresh certified copy can save a rejection.
- Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry legalises the court or civil status signature in Amman.
- UAE MOFA application. We file online with UAE PASS, choosing Jordan as the issuing country.
- Collection and digital attestation. An approved courier collects the original. The UAE Embassy in Amman and MOFA attest it together, the attested contract comes by email, and the original is returned.
- Spouse visa file. The contract goes into the GDRFA or ICP application.
The digital UAE stage usually takes 2 to 3 working days after collection.
Who sponsors whom
| Situation | Papers to attest |
|---|---|
| Husband sponsors wife | Marriage contract |
| Wife sponsors husband | Marriage contract, plus the sponsor's papers the visa office lists |
| Parents sponsor children | Marriage contract and each child's birth certificate |
| Second marriage | Marriage contract, and sometimes the earlier divorce certificate |
Children's papers are on Jordanian birth certificate attestation. The full visa checklist is on family visa services in Dubai.
Checking the attestation later
Each digitally attested document carries a reference number on its last page. If GDRFA, a bank or your employer ever asks, the attestation can be checked through MOFA attestation verification. Keep the email with the PDF safe, since it is the copy offices in the UAE will ask for.
Common problems with Jordanian marriage contracts
- A religious ceremony without court registration. Some couples, especially those who married quickly before a move, hold only a sheikh's paper. It has no court record, so registration at the Sharia court has to come first.
- Mixed nationality couples. If one spouse is not Jordanian, the contract may carry extra court notes. It still follows the same chain, but send us a clear photo of every page.
- Paying twice for MOFA. On the Amman digital route MOFA is already included. Do not book a second MOFA counter step in Dubai.
General rules for marriage certificates from any country are on marriage certificate attestation. For your degree, see Jordanian degree attestation, and for every Jordanian document, Jordan certificate attestation.
