Fees and steps checked on
Oman certificate attestation is how an Omani degree, marriage contract, experience letter or commercial registration becomes valid in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or any other emirate. The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs attests it first, through Oman Post. The UAE Embassy in Muscat then attests it digitally, and that same application includes MOFA attestation, so no extra stamp is needed once it reaches the UAE.
Price: send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts. The Omani ministry fee depends on the document type, so the quote is per document. See attestation fees.
The Omani chain, step by step
- Issuing body or notary. The university, school, court or company issues the document. A power of attorney is signed before an Omani notary first, and some education documents need a notary step.
- Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through Oman Post. The ministry closed its own attestation counters. Applications go through the Oman Post platform or one of its branches.
- UAE Embassy in Muscat, digital route. The application is made on the UAE MOFA website with UAE PASS, with Oman chosen as the country of issue. An approved provider collects the original, and the result arrives by email, attested by both the embassy and MOFA.
- Original returned. The paper original comes back by courier. The digital attestation can be checked at verify.mofa.gov.ae with the reference number and issue date.
Oman joined the Hague Apostille Convention in 2012. That helps for other member countries, but the UAE is not one, so the embassy step stays. See attestation vs apostille.
Official fees
Every official fee and the courier are included in the total price you get before any work starts. That covers the Omani ministry, the UAE mission and MOFA. A power of attorney with commercial content counts as a commercial document.
No GCC shortcut
Many people moving between Muscat and Dubai expect Gulf documents to pass without attestation. We have not found any official exemption. The UAE Embassy in Muscat page is clear: the Omani foreign ministry stamp comes first, then the embassy. Plan for the full chain, especially for a degree needed for a work permit.
Timing on the Omani side
The embassy part is short. The courier normally collects the original within 24 hours of a complete online application, and returns it 24 to 48 hours after the embassy releases it, or 48 to 72 hours outside the main cities. The Oman Post step and any university confirmation add time before that, and your timeline is confirmed with the quote.
Living in the UAE with an Omani document
If you studied in Muscat or Salalah and now work in Dubai, you do not need to fly back. The original goes to Oman, passes through Oman Post and the embassy, and returns. Anyone can submit the UAE application on your behalf. If you hold UAE PASS, the digital copy reaches you by email even before the paper original is back.
Documents from Saudi Arabia follow a different chain, set out on Saudi Arabia certificate attestation, so if you hold papers from both countries the two routes can be planned side by side.
Common problems with Omani documents
- Ministry counter closed. People still go to the old Omani attestation offices. All attestation now runs through Oman Post.
- Commercial POA. A power of attorney that covers company matters is charged as commercial, not personal. See power of attorney attestation.
- Memorandum and articles. These must be attested separately, not as one bundle.
- Lamination. Laminated certificates are refused.
- Arabic only. Omani certificates are in Arabic, which MOFA accepts. An English version is only needed if your employer asks.
