Fees and steps checked on
Ukrainian birth certificate attestation is needed when a parent in the UAE sponsors a child born in Ukraine for a residence visa, and when a school asks for proof of the child's age and parents. The certificate is issued by a Ukrainian civil registration office. For the UAE it needs certification on the Ukrainian justice side, consular legalisation by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a UAE mission stamp and then MOFA attestation.
Price: There is no fixed price for Ukraine. Send a copy on WhatsApp and you get the total price plus VAT, all official fees included, before any work starts.
We are a private document service, not MOFA, an embassy or a government office. We pick up and return your documents for free anywhere in Dubai.
Why Ukrainian families in the UAE need it
- Child residence visa. The sponsoring parent's visa file asks for an attested birth certificate for each child born outside the UAE. The Emirates ID is issued on the back of the visa. See family visa services in Dubai.
- School admission. Schools in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates often ask for it at registration. See attestation for school admission.
- Changing sponsor. If a child moves from a mother's sponsorship to a father's, or the reverse, the attested certificate is often asked for again on the new file.
The Ukrainian birth certificate chain
- Send a photo. We check the certificate form, the names and whether it can be used as it is.
- Justice certification. Civil registry documents fall under the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. Depending on the certificate, this step may be done on the original or on a notarised copy. We confirm which from your copy.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The Department of Consular Service gives consular legalisation.
- UAE mission. A UAE embassy or consulate attests the foreign ministry stamp. Which mission currently accepts Ukrainian documents is confirmed before you pay.
- MOFA in the UAE. The final stamp that visa and school systems check.
- Translation into English or Arabic. Planned at the start so you do not pay twice. See legal translation in Dubai.
Documents you need
- The original birth certificate, or a repeat certificate issued by the civil registry.
- The child's passport copy.
- Copies of both parents' passports.
- If the mother's surname has changed, her marriage or divorce certificate, so the link to the sponsor is clear.
Original, repeat certificate or extract
Many Ukrainian families arrived in the UAE with copies only, or with a certificate that was damaged. The civil registry can issue a repeat certificate (povtorne svidotstvo) from the State Register of Civil Status Acts. An extract from the register is a different document, and some receiving offices want the certificate itself. Before anyone in Ukraine orders anything, send us what you hold and we say which document fits the UAE file.
Common problems with Ukrainian birth certificates
- Apostille by mistake. A relative in Ukraine gets an apostille because it is the default service. For the UAE it does not help, and legalisation is still needed.
- Russian language or Soviet era forms. Older certificates may be in Russian or on USSR forms. They can still be used, but the translation and the justice step need care. Send a clear photo of both sides.
- Name spellings. The child's name in the passport may follow a newer transliteration than the parents' passports. The translation must use the spelling in each person's current passport.
Timing
The Ukrainian ministries and the UAE mission channel available at the time decide most of the timeline, so it comes with your quote rather than as a fixed number. MOFA in the UAE usually finishes in 1 to 3 business days once the certificate is back. If a visa deadline is close, tell us in your first message.
Other Ukrainian documents
A parent's work visa may also need a Ukrainian degree attested. For all document types, see Ukraine certificate attestation. General rules for every country are on birth certificate attestation.
